Schedule board (Kanban)
The kanban board view of the project schedule is a view that shows the schedule elements as cards. The board shows all non-parent tasks and all milestones defined in the project. You can customize the view of the table by choosing how to group and filter the displayed schedule items. The kanban board allows you to easily edit the values of project schedule items by moving items between columns.
Default grouping options
Default properties can group the Kanban board: Owners, End date, and Status.
Changing grouping properties
- Click the Grouping button in the schedule board’s schedule tab.
A list of available grouping options has expanded. - Select and click the desired grouping property from the list of available options.
The property by which schedule items are grouped has changed.
Grouping by Owner property
Grouping the Kanban board by the Owner’s property divides the board into columns corresponding to users assigned to schedule elements in the selected project. The columns contain task and milestone cards whose sole or one owner is a specific employee. In addition to the user columns, you can also see the Unassigned column, which contains schedule items without assigned owners.
Grouping by an End Date property
Grouping the Kanban board by the End date property divides the table into columns corresponding to the end date assigned to the schedule element. Sticky notes representing schedule items are assigned to a column:
- Expired – if the end date is earlier than today
- Today – if the end date is today’s date
- Tomorrow — if the end date is tomorrow’s date
- Current week — If the end date is later than tomorrow’s date but within the current week
- Next week — If the end date is in the next week range
- Future — If the end date is later than the following week range
- No date – if no end date has been specified
Grouping by the Status property
Grouping the Kanban board by the Status property divides the board into columns corresponding to the progress value of a given schedule element. Sticky notes representing schedule items are assigned to a column:
- Not Completed – Progress = 0%
- In Progress – Progress has a value between [1, 99]
- Completed – Progress = 100%
Custom grouping options
The Kanban board can be grouped by drop-down list type scheduling fields enabled on the project. Grouping a Kanban board by individually added properties divides the board into columns corresponding to the values in the drop-down list. In addition to the columns specified for the list corresponding to its values, you can also see the Unassigned column, which contains schedule items without assigned values for the selected list.
