Today, Continental Farmers Group is a joint agricultural holding, which has been operating as a single business since 2019, formed by merging of two powerful agricultural companies, the leaders of the domestic agricultural sector MRIYA Agroholding (since 1992) and CFG (Continental Farmers Group) (since 2006).
Both holdings consolidated not only reliable investments brought by the joint international investor SALIC to the Ukrainian economy, but also the Western values of doing business. They remain the consistent benchmarks in the activities of the Continental Farmers Group united Company and help to win the leading positions in the Ukrainian agribusiness.
The rapid increase in the scale of the business forces CFG to implement a number of both smaller and very complicated general corporate projects. Associated with their implementation is the involvement of key employees who, in addition to the projects, also carry out day-to-day operational work. Optimal planning of the work of these employees and involving them in the projects that generate the most value is a priority. Prior to the implementation of FlexiProject, CFG used several different tools for project implementation. However, the dynamics of business growth necessitated the implementation of a single, integrated tool that was also a single ‘source of truth’ for ongoing projects. CFG Group has a professional PMO. The intention of the head of the PMO was to automate the PMO and this initiated the search for a modern system to manage projects and project portfolios. The system was expected to reflect the PMI methodology. CFG analysed several programmes available on the European market in terms of the functionalities offered and their price, and consequently FlexiProject was decided upon. It turned out that, compared to the systems analysed, FlexiProject has a number of advantages, including a configurable Project Charter, a Project Closure Sheet, a risk register and automatic project reviews that allow regular reporting of project status to the company’s management.
FlexiProject is used to manage the majority of projects in the CFG Group. These include large, general corporate projects as well as smaller projects that do not require risk management or regular reporting on their status. FlexiProject is also used in selected parts of the organisation to manage not only projects, but also operational tasks.
CFG manages general corporate and operational project. A scoring module is used in FlexiProject to select project ideas and prioritise them. A form for collecting and describing project ideas has been developed. In addition, projects of a specific nature are grouped into project portfolios. CFG systematically organises project status reviews using the automatic project review function. Resources are planned for major projects and their use is consulted with the heads of the relevant departments. To better report and understand project statuses, the FlexiProject system has been linked to PowerBI. All document templates are now in one easily accessible place.
CFG employees like and appreciate working with FlexiProject, especially for its intuitive interface and sometimes even ask the PMO themselves to use the programme. According to CFG, it is very easy to introduce new employees to work with the system – sometimes even a one-hour meeting is sufficient.
