Operating in the highly competitive cosmetics industry, Torf Corporation launches a number of new, innovative products to the market every year. The design and implementation of each new product is treated as a separate project. It was the increasing number of new projects related to the development of innovative products from year to year that led to the need to implement a professional project management system. Torf Corporation decided to implement the FlexiProject project and portfolio management program.
As a first step after the implementation of the FlexiProject system, a detailed breakdown and refinement of the standard of the new product implementation process was undertaken. The project templates available in the FlexiProject system proved to be very helpful in this process. The refinement of the above standards proceeded in parallel with the increasing use of the system – this parallel approach to the creation of a standard for the new product design process and its simultaneous implementation in the system, proved to be a very effective approach. After several iterations, the required standard was achieved and is still in place today. Such a record of the above events has enabled significant structuring of activities in these areas.
For all projects carried out in the FlexiProject system, project schedules are created with a clear breakdown of tasks to be carried out, dates and assignment of owners. Project teams use the built-in communicator, thus improving communication as well as storing the necessary information in one place. On more complex projects, modules are used to manage project budgets or risks.
The system is also used effectively by the company’s Board of Directors and Management. Here, the automatic project reviews, the extensive possibility of creating reports on the company’s project situation and the possibility of strategic management of project portfolios prove to be of great value. The company’s Board and Management regularly analyze the status of the company’s ongoing projects using the automatic project reviews available in FlexiProject. This functionality is very helpful because it allows you to set a review date, and then the system automatically reminds project managers of the review date and the things they need to prepare in connection with it. Such a process “enforces” positive discipline and thus punctuality – which from the point of view of decision-making by the Board of Directors is very important.
