Graphical Summary

FlexiProject provides an interactive graphical dashboard—accessed via the Summary tab—that consolidates key project or portfolio data into interactive widgets (e.g., bar charts, pie charts, counters, lists).

This tool is available in three main areas of the system:

  • Portfolio:
    Tab: Summary (default is Projects)
    Access: Portfolio administrators only.
  • Review:
    Tab: Summary (default is Projects)
    Access: Review administrators only.
  • Project Report:
    Tab: Summary (default is List)
    Access: Project administrators only.

The dashboard displays various project or portfolio metrics such as project stages, project conditions, budget usage, delays, risks, tasks, milestones, and custom fields. Users can add, remove, edit (change scope or filters), and reposition these widgets. Changes are autosaved per user for each portfolio, review, or project report.

Interface and Layout

The dashboard uses a grid-based layout that allows for flexible arrangement and sizing of widgets:

Widget Types

  • Bar Chart:
Visualizes data with vertical columns, making it easy to compare values across different categories.
  • Pie Chart:
Represents parts of a whole as slices of a circle, ideal for illustrating proportional relationships.
  • Counter:
Displays a single numeric value prominently to highlight key metrics at a glance.
  • List:
Presents data in a simple text-based format, useful for showing details or rankings.
  • Risk Matrix: Provides a tailored view of data, such as visualizing risk levels across dimensions ( probability and impact)

Data Scope and Visual Conventions

Widgets can display various data points, including:

  • The number of projects in different stages.
  • Project conditions.
  • Distribution of project managers.
  • Custom field data (single or multiple selection).
  • Delays of project,s, tasks and milestones relative to baseline
  • Budget baseline overrun.
  • Risk categories or statuses in various chart formats.

Adding and Configuring Widgets

Adding a New Widget:

  1. Go to the Summary tab in your chosen area (Portfolio, Review, or Project Report).
  2. Click the + Add Chart button (or its equivalent).
  3. In the configuration window that appears, the left panel shows a preview of the chart while the right panel lets you select the data scope (e.g., project stage, budget usage), chart type (bar, pie, counter, list), applicable filters, and optionally rename the widget.
  4. Click Save to add the widget to the grid.

Editing a Widget:

  1. Hover over the widget and click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Adjust the data scope, filters, chart type, or name as needed, then click Save.

Removing or Cloning a Widget:

  • To remove, use the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Remove (no confirmation is required).
  • To clone, select Clone from the menu, which creates a duplicate with the same configuration (cloning is disabled if the widget lacks valid data).

Managing Widgets on the Grid

Moving widgets
Click and drag the widget’s title bar to reposition it within the grid.

Resizing widgets
Drag the bottom-right corner of the widget to adjust its size.

Autosave
All changes (position, size, configuration) are automatically saved for each user across different portfolios, reviews, or project reports.

Filtering data on a single chart

You can now apply filters at the level of a single chart. Filters are available in graphical reports across project portfolios, project reports, and project reviews, and they work for all chart types.

Typical use cases:

  • Exclude archived projects from a chart so only active work is shown.
  • In a risk matrix, exclude closed risks — the matrix will display only identified and active risks.
  • Show only projects in selected statuses, e.g. Pending and In progress.

To add a filter to a widget:

  1. Open the widget editor.
  2. In the Filters section, click Add filter.
  3. Select the attribute (e.g. Project status, Risk status) and pick the allowed values.
  4. Save the widget — the filter is stored per widget and applied every time the chart is refreshed.

Charts for numeric and function attributes

The widget configuration window has been redesigned. The previous data scope — project statuses, project managers, project attributes — has been consolidated into a single section called Projects, which always counts the number of projects and lets you group them by any property: status, manager, health, workspace, or a custom dropdown attribute (for example Priority or Project category).

In addition, you can now build charts for numeric project attributes and function-type attributes that return numeric values (for example Cost savings or Power [MW]).

To create a chart for a numeric attribute:

  1. Add a new widget and open the editor.
  2. In the Projects section, select the numeric or function attribute as the data source.
  3. Choose how to present the data:
    • Pie chart or column chart — you also specify a grouping property (e.g. project status, workspace, a custom dropdown).
    • Counter — a single number summing the attribute across selected projects.
  4. Optionally add filters (see Filtering data on a single chart).

The new options are available in workspaces, portfolios, project reviews, project reports, and when adding projects to a portfolio or review.
